New Years Update: Community

One of the beautiful surprises I’ve come across this year is a network - a community - that has been such a huge source of support when days are tough and protagonists of the best days from this year!

Community Group

Once a a week we meet to worship, discuss the podcast we’ve listened to over the last week, and study the Word of God. This semester we went over the first we chapters of Genesis. It’s been so fulfilling to learn and from my peers and hear them tell me how they’ve learnt from me. It has been incredibly life-giving!

Sundays

Sundays are probably the most exhausting day of the week. However, Sunday lunch is something I always look forward to. There’s usually too many people to fit in our tiny Barcelona restaurants, so everyone orders from their favourite place and comes over to my flat! It’s one of my favourite things because both friends and newcomers alike get to come and hang out, rest, talk, laugh, and just… be. Sunday evenings have become a time of rest and restoration, isn’t it exciting?

If you’ve been following my journey for a while you’ll know how significant this is for me! Why? Because for years I haven’t had a community of believers around me. In Germany I didn’t have a church, and even back in Jordan and even Cyprus all the way back since 2011 it simply hasn’t been a reality in the contexts that I’ve lived in.

So now I have grown to appreciate it immensely (so much so it deserves its own spotlight!) and I am forever grateful for the group of people God has placed around me.

We’re more than halfway through the 10 days of New Years Update! THANK YOU for coming along this far with me. It means the world!

See you tomorrow for day 7!
