One of the biggest changes this year has been an organisation-wide restructuring in ICB. This has been good news! God has been moving in Barcelona in ways we haven’t seen in Europe in decades and that has meant that the church has been growing exponentially - praise God!
Like any growth, however, this has come with its challenges to those God has called to run the logistics of it all. To put it in a metaphor, over the past year we have been feeling more and more that the “building” has been growing but the structure holding it was staying the same and it was getting very heavy. So it was time to shift a few things!
The Change
After many months in the works, as of October what used to be Creative Media, is now two teams: the more tech side of things (Production), and the more content-focused side of things (Creative). With this change, my role has shifted to be the Creative Director and it has meant that it’s been my job to start a team almost from scratch! When I first joined the team in 2020, it was very new and at the time we were building the team from scratch. Well, it’s round 2!

The Team
How does that look in practical terms? Well, because of the nature of the work on each of the new teams, Creative went from having 6 team members and 28 volunteers, to 2 part-time team members, 2 volunteers, I (and the same amount of workload)- if this made you go “ooof, ouch”, yeah, same. Having said that, I am so, so grateful for the team members that we do have.
Sonya (in the middle) joined the team at the beginning of this year and is the Worship Director (and insanely talented at it), she is also all things creative and offered to help with our social media platforms. Armando (on the right) is a part-time videographer and photographer and wow, he is so good at what he does (most of the pictures and videos you see in this website are taken and edited by him).
The Challenge
That has left me in charge of all the graphics, coordinating social media with Sonya, and keeping up with the online campus. In addition, I am actively recruiting volunteers, onboarding, training, and hopefully getting them a position in the team where they can take some of the workload.
Like I mentioned in the intro, this year (and especially the last new months) have been A LOT. This is a glimpse into some of the logistical changes, which is not the most fun thing to read about, but it plays such an important role in all the ways God has been working on Sundays and all other special events.
In many ways, this is another leap of faith in trusting that when I am week, His strength shines through. Because truth is, I cannot do this alone - and that’s the point. God does take us through more than we can handle so that we will rely on Him and right now is a time of FULL reliance on him because, well, it IS more than I can handle.
Prayer Request
Will you join me in prayer? These changes don’t happen over night, and I am aware that it will take months before we are up and running smoothly again. So please pray for wisdom, strength in Him, more workers who are skilled in graphic design and marketing and are willing and able to give their skills to expand the Kingdom, and above all, that in this time may all the glory go to God, because only He deserves it!
